The National Biennial Symposium for Veterans (www.nbsv.us) will be held Oct. 4-5, 2013 in Milwaukee at Hilton Milwaukee City Center. The objective of this symposium is to educate primary care providers and specialists in the healthcare, medical and mental health professions who are serving nearly 60 percent of the veterans who are being treated outside of the Veterans Affairs (VA) System. This information will also be relevant to veterans’ family members and the civilian population.
The Wisconsin Veterans Foundation in partnership with the Medical College of Wisconsin is sponsoring the 2013 Symposium. Additional assistance for this symposium is coming from the White House | Joining Forces Initiative, the National Intrepid Center for Excellence (NICoE), One Mind for Research, Samueli Institute, VA Medical Centers around the country, and 25+ internationally recognized scientific and clinical experts in the areas of Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI), Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Shock Wave & Blast Injuries, Poly-Traumas and Complementary Alternative Medicine (CAM).
This two-day 2013 Symposium includes such internationally recognized luminaries as General Peter Chiarelli (Ret.) President and CEO of One Mind for Research, Dr. James Kelly Director of NICoE, and Dr. Glenn Cockerham Director of the VA National Center of Ophthalmology, Dr. Wayne Jonas President and CEO of Samueli Institute, Dr. Michael Armstrong Medical Director of the Outpatient Brain Injury Rehabilitation Center at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center, and Dr. Michael McCrea Professor and Director of Brain Injury Research at the Medical College of Wisconsin.
